Grow your Earnings in this Crazy Environment …and Beyond

My most recent and very well attended Workshops leverage my Leadership Coaching practice along with my deep knowledge of helping businesses prepare and execute in difficult markets.  The Workshop focuses on revealing the best practices to prepare a company for a downturn where I draw on solid research from HBR, Bain & Co., and McKinsey.  I show that the companies that complete this work will realize increases in performance and enterprise value during and after a downturn that will enable them to outperform their competition.

I follow the best practices piece with a Downturn Readiness Assessment which reveals a company’s preparedness for adversity.  The assessment measures preparedness across seven key areas of a company and gives the team the awareness to make improvements.  Lastly and most importantly, I work with attendees to identify the important recession proofing measures that will produce the most positive impact on their businesses, and I show them how to implement and execute those tactics and strategies.  Most business owners like the idea of doing this work but fail to execute --my workshop shows them a path from theory to execution.

Value to Attendees

Attendees will come away with three takeaways:

  • First they will learn what prepared companies do to prepare for and execute in a downturn that enables them to significantly outperform their competitors
  • Second, they will learn the areas where they are most and least prepared for adversity
  • Third, they will learn prerecession execution and accountability tools that will allow them to execute to take advantage of the favorable trends in today's market and mitigate the negative ones

This is valuable to all leadership teams who need to step back and assess the unprecedented environment we are living in and adapt to take advantage of what they can to perform at their best level.

Michael Tetreau

Vistage Chair
As an engineer at heart, I am naturally curious about how things work. That applies to organizations and teams as well as how things fit together and what drives them forward. I strive for operational excellence and I’m motivated by continuous improvement. Helping companies grow and be sustainable helps the economy which benefits everyone. For more than 8 years, I served as First Selectman (Mayor) of Fairfield, Connecticut, leading teams that were highly successful in overcoming diverse challenges related to finance, natural disasters, cost containment, and capital projects. Prior to that, I held executive positions where I re-invigorated the sales force, inspired teams to exceptional growth, and changed the paradigm for program implementation. I’m also an experienced coach. My father was a high school football coach so it’s part of my culture. My specialty is helping people improve and building on their strengths. Making a difference is a priority. That’s why I became a Vistage Chair. Bringing a group of high-integrity CEOs, business owners and key executives together to solve complex challenges and help each other grow their businesses is very powerful. Its ripple effect produces far-reaching results. Members develop leadership skills by learning from skilled peers and presentations by innovative thought leaders. As NFL coach Vince Lombardi said, “Leaders are made, they are not born.” With guidance and diligence, people can learn to be great leaders. Scuba diving is a passion and I have had the chance to dive all over the world. As a scuba instructor, I helped people escape their daily concerns, explore the underwater environment, expand their personal boundaries, enjoy the outdoors and forge new friendships. There are spots open in my Vistage group. If you’re a leader who wants to grow a business while helping others, contact me at michael.tetreau@vistagechair.com.
